CHEROKEE VILLAGE POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Cherokee Village Police Department was first established in 2000 at the time Cherokee Village became a city. The Police Department is responsible for protecting and serving the almost 5,000 residents and 15,000 acres that comprise the City of Cherokee Village.

The Department provides proactive, community-oriented law enforcement in partnership with the citizens it serves. The police strive to combine the best of small town values with aggressive law enforcement.

Our Mission Statement
The mission of the Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in the City of Cherokee Village by working cooperatively with the people of the community to enforce the law, preserve the peace, and provide a safe environment.

Our Responsibilities
• To preserve and protect the life and property of Cherokee Village citizens.
• To make our streets as safe as possible by maintaining a high profile traffic enforcement program.
• To reduce the opportunity for the commission of crimes by implementing effective crime prevention strategies.
• To fully investigate crimes when they occur.
• To expeditiously apprehend criminal offenders.
• To demand the highest degree of integrity and professionalism from all employees.

• The Cherokee Village Police Department is staffed by Chief Rickey Crook, Sergeant Richey Thatcher, six (6) full time police officers, two (2) part time police officers as well as three (3) auxiliary police officers, one (1) animal control officer, one (1) executive assistant
• The City of Cherokee Village lies within the boundaries of both Fulton and Sharp counties.
• The department has a variety of fully equipped vehicles and resources to fulfill their mission.
• Cherokee Village officers are available and on duty 24 hours a day.


Patch Policy
We are unable to furnish CVPD patches to those who request them due to the high demand and cost. Please note that we are unable to acknowledge requests for patches received via mail or email

Letters of commendation from citizens are posted for all department employees to view.


Complaint Procedure
It is the policy of the Cherokee Village Police Department to investigate all allegations and complaints of misconduct against any member of the department. To make a complaint against a Cherokee Village Police Department employee, notify Chief Rickey Crook by coming in person to the department or by calling 870-257-5225 during working hours, or you can mail your comments to:

Complaints received concerning employees will be assigned to the employee’s supervisor for investigation. Notifications will be made to the reporting party informing them of the results of the departmental investigation. If the complaint did not give an address or phone number, notification cannot be made.

Keep the following in mind:
• Don’t approach the scene. Go to a safe place and call the police department.
• If you believe a crime is in progress, Call 911.
• Many times rewards are offered for the arrest and conviction of persons committing crimes in our community and you need not give your identity to collect them.
• Report crimes that occur within the city limits of Cherokee Village (both Fulton and Sharp counties).
• File the report when you become aware that a crime has been committed. Memories and evidence will be fresh and your credibility will be greater.
